Prof Sanjay Sharma is Secretary of Indian society of disease of esophagus. Dr Sharma had training for esophageal cancer management from different institutes namely
Tata Memorial hospital, Mumbai, for 27 years, were Dr. Sanjay Sharma was also Head of Thoracic surgery department from 1998 to 2003.

Training for esophageal cancer as observer for 4 weeks with Dr. David Skinner at Newyork & Cornhell university, USA in year 1989 and 1991.
Dr. Sanjay Sharma has learned radical three field total esophaectomy from Japan. Dr. Sanjay Sharma was first to start the radical three field total esophaectomy in India, in the year 1992. Dr Sharma has performed more than 300 radical three field total esophaectomy such selective cases till now with excellent result. In last 10 years numbers of cases operated with radical three field total esophaectomy were 275.
